Upfront Sizzle
In 2016, TBS announced a new esports franchise to air on the cable network and Twitch. This was essentially the first time esports would air regularly on national television. I was tasked with launching this campaign, and the first deliverable was the trailer we made at the Upfront presentation in New York.
The challenge here was that most of these players were not native English speakers. They were truly global talent. This was the first time I encountered this issue on such a large scale for sit-down interviews. I figured out some tricks to communicate with them and get a performance out of them on camera. I’ve since used those tricks regularly throughout the years when working with talent.
